Rowlinson Packaging Ltd is one of the first companies in the packaging industry to achieve Environmental Standard ISO 14001.
The company, which makes products including wooden pallets and riveted plywood cases, says the accreditation was the culmination of nine months’ work by its environmental team. It is also the first packaging company to be assessed by BM TRADA Certification.
Rowlinson Packaging anticipates some of its major customers will in future insist that suppliers are covered by the standard. Customers include the Ministry of Defence, Rolls Royce, Ford and Royal Ordnance.
David Rowlinson, joint managing director, said: ‘It certainly gives us an edge over our competitors and we are confident that new business will follow.’
