Alan Newbury, a director of Ridgeons Ltd, has retired after more than 24 years’ service.
Mr Newbury, group timber director for Ridgeons Forest Products Ltd, joined the company in 1980. Director of public relations Gordon Ridgeon said Mr Newbury had been “an incredibly creative director who has brought a wealth of new ideas on all aspects of buying and selling tmiber, as well as overhauling some transport systems”. He was a “real innovator for our industry, whose input will be greatly missed”.
Mr Newbury was guest of honour at a special function at St John’s College, Cambridge.
