Reindeer Wood, a Finnish marketing initiative launched in the UK earlier this year, was at Timber Expo to promote the products of some of its member companies.
It was the first time the organisation, which represents a range of sawmills and timber products manufacturers from eastern central Finland, had exhibited in the UK.
Its stand, created by Finnish designer Kaarle Holmberg, featured laminated beams, timber cladding, log house components, furniture and a garden building.
Reindeer’s UK-based project manager, Juha Holopainen, was pleased with the level of visitor interest at the show. “We’ve had a very positive response,” he said, adding that UK importers and manufacturers had approached the organisation, as had Network Rail.
Once Reindeer is established in the UK it would look next at France and Russia, said Mr Holopainen.
