A £300,000 thermal recycling unit has been installed at engineered timber specialist Palgrave Brown (UK) Ltd.

The new C9 general-use burner installed at Brinscall, where Palgrave Brown manufactures Silktrim MDF mouldings, incinerates dust and other waste to heat the factory.

The company says it will reduce site wastage by about 4,000 tonnes a year and give a potential saving of £36 an hour on gas or £4,320 a week.

Stafford-based Talbotts made and supplied the burner. Managing director Ben Talbott said: ‘Forward thinking companies around the world are planning ahead to comply with the increasing legislation to minimise CO2 emissions and energy wastage.’

The burner is also capable of generating electricity.
