Organisers of the March 22-25 show, which covers woodworking, windows and façades, said the event demonstrated that woodworking trades closely associated with the building industry were at last seeing a reversal of recent negative trends.

Dr Bernhard Dirr, general manager of show co-organiser Fachverband Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen im VDMA, said: “There are indications that particularly small and medium enterprises are investing more in machinery and workshop equipment again after years of depression in the industry.”

Visitors numbers to the biennial exhibition were up 9% on two years ago, with a much bigger international contingent than before.

Some 1,184 exhibitors from 30 countries attended, with total display space up 6%.

Holz-Handwerk focuses on machinery, supplies and equipment for the wood crafts and is aimed at carpenters and joiners.
