The installation of a Weeke BHC550 CNC machining centre at The Real Door Company is expected to give the company access to new markets.

The Weeke, supplied by Homag UK Ltd, was specified with large aggregates to cut apertures for locks, hinges and other hardware. Laser positioning was also specified for the workpieces and bed, ensuring the machine could undertake the long-term heavy work with solid wood doors and panels.

Michael Herman, managing director of Hertfordshire-based The Real Door Company, said the investment had underpinned the entire present and future production operations.

The company’s flexible approach and ability to work with hardwoods has brought it contracts from English Heritage, the National Trust and the Ministry of Defence.
