Oakwrights appearance at Ecobuild underlined the quick build potential of timber construction.

The company supplied the two-storey frame for ZEDfactory’s modular RuralZED sustainable house kit and they had just two weeks to do it!

The house is designed to be ultra eco-friendly, using sustainable building materials, and modular in format so it can have renewable energy products added to upgrade it from Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 to the ultimate Level 6. It is also built to last a minimum of five generations.

Oakwrights’ David Grey said his company still focused on oak frame building, but RuralZED used glulam.

“It’s a material we are using increasingly and we see a lot of potential for it in the future,” he said.
