“A quality show”, was how Jason Ruddle, managing director of Eleco Software Ltd, described Futurebuild.

Eleco was at the exhibition in force, with stands for both its software and building components divisions.

The former’s Consultec Whole House Engineering, which allows timber frame designers and manufacturers to produce structural and engineering calculations as part of the design process, is the latest addition to the Eleco stable. It has been successfully trialled and will be commercially promoted from May.

Mr Ruddle said some architects wanted to try to understand what software was driving the manufacture of timber frame houses.

He presented a seminar entitled “From design, to factory, to site”.

“It’s trying to get them to understand what’s possible – it’s not just about brick and block and steel,” he said.
