Puhos Board (UK) Ltd has improved its environmental credentials with certificated confirmation that its boards are made using hydroelectricity.

The certificate, which covers 2005, states that the Puhos manufacturing plant in eastern Finland is powered by hydroelectricity from Fortnum Markets Oy.

Alex Campbell, a director of Puhos Board, said: “We see environmental issues as part of overall products quality. So the use of hydroelectric power enhances the quality of our manufacturing process.”

He said the certification follows the company’s recent success in being awarded Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes and Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody certification from BM TRADA.
