The first Masterwood Prima CNC panel machining centre sold in the UK will be used to train students in the wood trades department at Crawley College, West Sussex.

With a budget price of around £30,000, it is the biggest investment the college has made in a piece of equipment.

Lecturer Jeremy Ridley said it was vital to offer CNC training to the 40 full-time and 100 part-time students. The college can now add CNC to its NVQ courses and the Advanced Crafts for Wood Machinists to its City & Guild courses.
