A Norfolk bespoke furniture maker has invested more than £200,000 in machinery to aid its diversification into foil pressed cabinet doors and fascia panels.

Shape Furniture, whose clients include Ferrari and Alfred Dunhill, has installed a Bulleri three axis CNC router and Simimpianti TopForm membrane press at its Besthorpe factory near Norwich.

The technology, supplied by Coventry-based Ney Ltd, is helping the company’s new subsidiary Form Doors Ltd to address the market for vinyl pressed cabinet doors and fascia panels within the East Anglia region.

The Bulleri, equipped with Licom Systems Ltd’s AlphaCAM and AlphaDOOR software, is fitted with a drilling head suited for flat panel cutting and the machining of cabinet panel components.

Form Doors uses the Simimpianti press to produce vinyl wrapped doors and panels for the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry. A Teflon membrane on the press bed enables the company to use pre-glued foils supplied by Ney, increasing productivity and quality.

The machinery’s introduction follows an earlier investment at Shape’s Wymondham factory, comprising a Bulleri five axis CNC router and a KDP 118 SLK straight line edgebander from EBM.
