A Powermat 500 moulder is the latest Weinig machine to be installed by Irish staircase manufacturer Palace Joinery Ltd.

The addition takes Tubbercurry-based Palace’s investment in Weinig Group machines to about €200,000 over the past year.

Palace said the 300mm wide Powermat 500, featuring PowerLock tooling, has improved productivity by 33% without compromising on surface finish.

Tool speeds of 8,000rpm are capable with PowerLock tooling, which is fitted to all six moulder heads.

A special feature of Palace’s Powermat is a short infeed table with two driven rollers above the table and one driven serrated roller inside to ensure a smooth feed rate.

Earlier Weinig Group machines to be installed include a Raimann FlexiRip saw, for ripping, cross-cutting and angle cutting a wide variety of materials, including four-inch thick hardwood such as iroko or ash.

A Dimter S50 Opticut cross-cut saw was also introduced to provide extra cross-cutting capacity, speed up production and improve accuracy.
