Orders for Italian woodworking machinery and tools increased by 2.4% year-on-year during the fourth quarter of 2007, according to ACIMALL.

Figures from the Italian woodworking machinery and tools manufacturers’ association also found that the amount of home-grown orders rose by 7%, with overseas orders up by 1%. This was coupled with a 2.2% increase in prices according to Acimall.

Nearly 90% of those companies interviewed by Acimall said that they expected international demand to remain at current levels or improve in 2008, with 85% expecting the domestic market to remain stable or expand.

Other figures from the association also found that the industry had seen production levels positive, with 74% reporting stationary employment levels and 36% seeing jobs on the up.
