Pinetum’s timber store, machine shop and assembly areas are being humidified at 60% relative humidity by 116 nozzles, which combine compressed air and water to produce a fine atomising spray.

Around 525 litres of water an hour are pumped into the atmosphere at the production facility. As well as ensuring an optimal humidity level, which prevents wood from warping and swelling, the cold water spray humidifiers suppress dust making for a better working environment.

A JetSpray system to humidify an area of 20x20x5m high would cost around £9,000. This would include a control panel, where the air and water is controlled to the correct pressures, and 10 nozzles to release the water into the atmosphere. This system would evaporate about 30kg of water per hour.
