ACIMALL, the Italian woodworking machinery and tools manufacturers’ association, said the industry was seeing “significant growth”, though this was in comparison to a “very negative” corresponding period in 2005.

International orders grew by 37.2%, while business from Italian customers was up 33.7%.

Prices grew by 0.8% during the quarter, while the average period of assured production was 3.4 months.

Companies interviewed by Acimall are optimistic about future business potential, with 33% of sample manufacturers expecting further growth in international orders and only 7% fearing a reduction. Some 31% expect further improvement in the domestic sector and just 7% predict a dip.
