George Morgan, chairman of Morgan & Co (Strood) Ltd, has died at the age of 83 after a lifetime in the timber trade.
His remarkable career with Morgan & Co spanned 67 years and was only interrupted by his army service during the second world war. He was still extremely fit and active in the business until he died suddenly on October 8.
Mr Morgan was well known and respected in the home-grown trade where he spent many years directing the round timber buying and forestry operations of the company.
He is survived by his wife and two sons who have requested that any charitable donations made in Mr Morgan’s memory should be sent to the Timber Trades Benevolent Society at 31 Chelthorn Way, Solihull, B91 3FW.
