Flemming Juncker, founder of flooring company Junckers, has died at the age of 97.

Former landowner and resistance fighter during the German occupation, Mr Juncker achieved fame as not only one of the most outstanding leaders of the Danish resistance, but also as a farmer, forester and factory owner.

After completing a Master of Forestry in 1929, he managed the forest areas of two estates owned by his grandfather. In parallel to this, he also founded Junckers Sawmill in Koege in 1930. He introduced innovative methods for the use of beech and a few years later the mill was handling the majority of beech being harvested from Danish forests.
