Northern Joinery has installed a new Boere wide-belt sanding line for finishing its range of bespoke internal joinery products.

The £93,000 line, comprising an Elite 1300 BKKS bottom working sander and an Elite TKKS top working machine, has replaced an earlier Boere line originally installed at the Rochdale-based company in 1988.

The technology is being used for sanding products such as custom-designed staircases in both hard and softwood, which are supplied to national housebuilders and architects.

Both Boere units have a 1300mm working width and a working height of 190mm – higher than the standard 150mm in order to process the company’s specific stair components.

A constant working height and feed speed is maintained via frequency controller with monitoring on two electronic digital counters.
