North Yorkshire Timber managing director Peter Kershaw raised around £1,000 for charity when he completed the 13-mile Great North Run recently.

Mr Kershaw will donate the money to Martin House Hospice for Children in Wetherby and St Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate.

“I’d like to thank all my sponsors including staff, family, customers and suppliers for their generous support,” he said.

Mr Kershaw, who took part for the second time, shaved 10 minutes of last year’s time, coming in at 2hrs 34mins.

“It’s an amazing experience and I’ll be starting serious training again in the spring for next year’s race,” he said.
