A petition to “join the campaign to stop burning our wood” drew visitors to Norbord’s stand.

“We’re pushing the message to use timber first before burning it for biomass,” said area sales manager Geoff Coe. “The petition has stimulated quite a lot of discussion and it’s a useful tool in getting our message across.”

The petition was timely as the government has brought forward its review of Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) banding, which will set green energy subsidies for the next five years.

“We have a short window of opportunity to persuade the government to change its mind,” said Mr Coe.
