Volvo Construction Equipment has found a niche market in the Czech Republic forestry and timber industries with many firms using 100% Volvo fleets.

Lesy Tabor’s Protivin sawmill in South Bohemia, which produces 45,000m3 of sawn timber annually, is one example and has a fleet of six Volvo wheel loaders including an L70D unit delivered last year, an L90C, an L50, two 4300 BM units and the oldest machine, a 621 wheel loader delivered in 1961.

The units have quick coupling attachments to facilitate different applications and can use grapple, bucket and fork attachments all in the same day. The L70D also works with a 5m3 bucket attachment to load woodchips onto trucks.

The L70D has an operating weight of 12.2tonnes, is powered by a low emission diesel engine and features Volvo’s Torque Parallel linkage system which provides high breakout capacity throughout the entire lift cycle plus parallel lift capability.
