A number of new projects and member benefits were announced at the Woodworking Machinery Suppliers Association‘s (WMSA) AGM at Donington Park.

These included the WMSA’s first Training Award, to be launched later this year, to encourage new entrants and investment into the industry.

A free Employment Law Advice Hotline was also announced.

Doug Shopland, of Devon-based Stenner Ltd, is the new WMSA chairman. He said: ‘For the first time the WMSA is in a strong financial position, with the resources and ability to do something for its membership.’

Negotiations are under way for a new Woodmex rolling three-show agreement, and other new member benefits include representation at major trade fairs, travel grant support for the fairs, and on-site consultations with the WMSA technical director.
