Swedish sawmill machinery manufacturer Söderhamn Eriksson (SE) dispensed with its normal blue livery to attract attention to its latest offering – the updated Cambio debarker.

The striking gold and yellow debarker now has motorised arms instead of chains.

“If there’s a problem with the unit, you can still carry on production, whereas it has to be stopped with older machines with chains,” said Glen O’Hara, sales manager of Söderhamn Eriksson Ltd.

SE is celebrating 60 years of its Cambio brand, with about 6,500 units sold.

Additional features have also been added to AKE bandsawing machines.

Mr O’Hara reported high levels of interest in PST shaftless spiral conveyors for moving woodchips. He said UK customers were ripping out chain conveyors in favour of the spiral systems for space reasons, lower maintenance and energy efficiency.
