The decision to build a purpose-built factory has allowed a Cowdenbeath hardwood conservatory and window manufacturer to continue its steady growth in both the retail and trade sectors.
A raft of new machinery has been installed in Natural Windows’ 10,000ft2 factory, completed earlier this year, improving both quality and capacity. The equipment includes a Weinig moulder, three Hemage multi-spindle profilers, two Hemage multi-profile tenoners, tooling and a paint shop.
Managing director Gordon Greig said: “The interior of the factory was designed so that the timber comes in one door and goes through all the manufacturing process, including being given a full factory-applied finish, then out the dispatch door in one continuous flow.”
A mezzanine floor level enables the company to make one-off designs of any size, while an architect’s showroom allows prospective clients to view the finished product, then take a guided tour through the factory.
Total investment in the factory and machinery was about £250,000.
