Scottish kitchen maker Murray & Murray will take full advantage of its Cabinet Vision furniture manufacturing software when it moves into a purpose-built factory this summer.

The Fife-based company, run by former Royal Marines officer Callum Murray, will be able to download cutting instructions from its Cabinet Vision Solid Manufacturing software direct to new CNC equipment, speeding up production and adding greater flexibility.

At present the software provides plans, drawings and cutting lists but without CNC machinery it cannot send information direct to the production line.

Mr Murray said the new 10,000ft2 site at Auchtermuchty would give the room needed for expansion and improved production of its built-in bedroom furniture and upmarket kitchens, the latter of which cost an average £25,000.

He added: “We’ll have both CNC and nesting software. What currently takes a day-and-a-half, we’ll be able to complete in one-and-a-half hours.”

The £1m turnover company, which supplies direct to clients, will also be able to supply carcasses, kitchen and bedroom fronts, plus kitchens and bedrooms to retail specialists.
