A new rip-saw has helped Essex-based hardwood timber importer EO Burton & Co Ltd improve efficiency and reduce the wastage of “costly hardwoods”.

Production manager Kevin Inskip said that the Primo MRS-340H Moveable Rip Saw , supplied by Allied Machinery Ltd, had proved to be “tremendous value for money” and had helped the company’s Thorndon Sawmill speed up the manufacturing process of cut timber.

“The new rip-saw has considerably speeded up the setting for our ripping process while also improving timber yield and reducing waste,” said Mr Inskip.

“We are extremely pleased with the saw’s accuracy and with the speed of set-up.”

The purchase of the Primo saw is the latest step in EO Burton’s recovery from a fire that destroyed the company’s 4.5 acre Thorndon site in 2002, with Allied Machinery re-engineering two of the firm’s original moulders.
