Ridgeons Timber and Builder’s Merchants has bought a 12-tonne GVW Volvo FL-240 rigid equipped with a rear-mounted HIAB crane to deliver construction materials around Cambridge.
The FL can manoeuvre in the city’s notoriously congested and narrow streets, and is the first truck in Ridgeons’ 130-strong main fleet to be equipped with Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics system, which can produce environmental reports as well as having GPS tracking and street level mapping.
Ewan Hunter, fleet manager of the East Anglia firm, said the decision to equip the FL with Dynafleet was made in light of Ridgeons ongoing assessment of the firm’s carbon footprint.
