Jim Lumsden, director of the Institute of Wood Science, is to leave the post on March 31 to devote more time to his Human Resources activities with Crown Timber plc.

He has been director for the past three years.

IWSc president Dr Vic Kearley said: “We are extremely grateful to Jim for all he had done to further the cause of the Institute, which he leaves well-poised to continue its future development.”

Former director David Woodbridge will return to the position in the short term, pending a new appointment which will be announced in due course.
