Interbuild exhibitor ante-holz of Germany told TTJ that its UK sales had developed into a sizeable business in the seven years it has operated in the market.

The company, which started with exports of glulam beams, scaffold boards and garden products, now also sells sawn timber, battens and other wood products to the UK market, with 2007 volumes expected to reach 50,000m³.

“The UK is an important market for us and we are selling bigger and bigger volumes,” said Thomas Schauerte, ante-holz chief sales officer. “We are looking for long-term relationships.”

Ante-holz, which has about 12 distributors in the UK, aims to grow its business here by 10-20% annually.

Devon-based glulam specialist Lamisell, which has a close working relationship with ante-holz, also had a presence on the stand. Lamisell director Judi Faulkner said it was due to start work soon on its second lifeboat station project – Hoylake Lifeboat Station in Liverpool.
