German sawmill machinery manufacturer Linck had three new technological innovations on its large stand.

The first, a tool changing device for CSMK saw units, is designed for safer and faster tool changing. It consists of a column with articulated boom on which a double telescope with electric chain hoist is attached.

It allows one operator to transfer prepared saw heads from a wheeled carriage to the machine and fit the blades via multiple splining instead of keys.

The new VPM 450 profiler unit is billed as a smaller machine than predecessors and features two blades mounted at right angles on one profiling head. Linck says the patented tool gives a smoother lumber surface, avoiding typical profiler tear-outs.

The design allows diagonal profiling of sideboards to follow the log/cant shape, resulting in more efficient wood recovery. The unit can be tilted in the feed direction and vertically adjusted by a continuous path control.

Linck’s third innovation is a retrofit set for its stepped cutter heads which allow mills to produce fine wood chips with existing cutter heads. Mills are able to switch between larger pulp chips and fine chips for producing wood pellets, depending on market conditions.
