One of a range of launches from tool specialist Leitz was the ProfilCut z1/z1+1, a new routing blade for CNC or manual routers designed to cut right to the centre of the workpiece.

“We believe this is a unique new feature and it gives the user a range of benefits,” commented UK sales manager Brian Maddox. “It can be used on soft- and hardwood, plywood, coreboard, particleboard and fibreboard and also laminated sheets and Corian.”

Another new line on show was the ProFix profiling knife head aimed at both the craft and industrial user for cutting wood and composites. The tool features “reptile-ground” blades said to give 2.5 times the durability of standard products and which can be resharpened up to 15 times.

Reflecting growing interest in finger-jointing, Leitz also showed a number of cutter heads aimed at this sector. These included a mini-

finger tool designed to boost the quality of dovetail joint fingers. The blades are specially coated to reduce the need for sharpening and cut power consumption.
