Ledinek, the multi-faceted Slovenian wood-processing equipment producer, reinforced its reputation at Ligna for making highly productive equipment. In most areas – planer moulding, finger-jointing, cross-cutting – the stress was on speed of throughput and set-up.

Among the main exhibits was its Superplan moulder range, one of which it has recently sold to Ireland’s Murray Timber. “The model it bought runs up to 300m/min, but the fastest can run at 350m/min,” said sales manager Robert Mlinaric. “It’s also very flexible and you can switch between profiling tools by lowering the spindle in less than a minute. At the same time, speed doesn’t mean sacrificing accuracy. The Superplan has ball screw drive which means precise frictionless adjustment, and powerful hydraulic locking, so while it can run very fast, it’s also precise.”

The tool spindles, he added, are also direct rather than belt driven which means less maintenance.

Also on show was the latest development in Ledinek’s Kontizink finger-jointing systems, the 15-200kN. It ranks as one of the fastest on the market, handling up to 60 joints per minute.

Productivity was also the key quality of the new X-cut cross-cut saw, which is targeted for use with glulam and ‘duo beam’ laminated timber, as well as solid wood.
