Newly-created KAST SIA, a timber treatment service provider, has installed a 15m-long low pressure treatment vessel capable of treating 4,000m3 a month on a single shift capacity.
The plant, situated at Sala port in Riga, uses Arch Timber Protection’s Vacsol Aqua water-based preservative.
KAST SIA also has 10,000m2 of under cover warehousing, 120,000m2 of open air storage, a quay area for two ships and four gantry cranes for loading of timbers.
The company is currently in discussions with six or seven UK companies about possible treatment deals.
