Lesley Larter of Howarth Timber Importers Ltd was presented with a cheque and bouquet by Richard Gore, chairman of the newly-formed North East Timber Trade Association, in recognition of her help to Hull dinner organiser Bernard Lowery over the past 12 years.
Mr Lowery, a director of Howarth Timber, was one of the first to organise an after-dinner speaker at a regional dinner and also introduced voluntary raffles for the Timber Trades Benevolent Society. He is a long-standing member of the board of management of the Timber Trade Federation – a position from which he will retire in July.
Mr Gore said: “If he relinquishes his role as Hull dinner organiser this will leave yet another gap to fill and the need for someone to find a ‘Lesley’ to ensure the smooth running of this popular function.”
