Timber products manufacturer FW Mason and Company Ltd has added a Kuper six-head machine to its stable of planer/moulders.

The Kuper, supplied by sole UK distributor Daltons, was required to provide extra capacity and a high-quality finish. It joins 18 other planer/moulders at Nottingham-based Masons, which supplies DIY retailers, merchants and the manufacturing trades.

Masons production manager Steve Newbold checked out the Kuper range at Ligna, held discussions with Daltons sales director Andy Walsh and saw several machines at Daltons’ showroom before deciding to purchase a SWTXL6 six-head machine incorporating Siemens Simatic touch screen controls with memory feature and 8,000rpm spindle speeds.

The machine was installed and commissioned by Daltons engineers in conjunction with technicians from Germany.

Mr Newbold said the Kuper had fully met his expectations so far and predicted it would prove to be a valuable addition to the company’s machining capabilities.

Daltons said it had already achieved a number of successful Kuper installations in the UK and showed an XSL6 six-head model at the recent Woodworking Ireland Exhibition in Dublin.
