A small Kuper entry-level planer/moulder was making its international exhibition debut at Ligna, showing how even small timber companies can benefit from high production technology.

The SWT 23 XS, which UK customers can also now check out at Nottingham-based distributor Daltons, had made its first appearance at Kuper’s in-house in March.

The five-spindle machine can process workpieces 18-230mm in width and 8-125mm in depth, with a feed speed of 6-26m/min. The spindles work at 6,200rpm, with only a standard specification available.

Other machines on show included the XL version, featuring touch-screen control, capable of saving more than 20,000 work programs. Workpieces can be processed 18-250mm wide, 8-150mm in depth, with a feed-speed of 7-37m/min and options available.

Kuper’s Rainer Winkenstette said the heavy duty XLS, aimed at window manufacturers and laminating companies, has a feed speed of 7-42m/min, but special options can increase this up to 100m/min.
