Kronospan has taken delivery of 19 new replacement fork lift trucks at its Chirk production plant as part of a multi-million pound contract with Linde.

The two companies have signed a five-year agreement which will see Linde maintain and service Kronospan’s 37-strong fork lift fleet.

Kronospan had initially wanted to replace all its forklifts but decided it would be more cost-effective to retain half the fleet.

Linde’s fleet management service includes a dedicated engineer for Kronospan and use of workshop facilities at Chirk for speeding up servicing of trucks.

The Linde trucks at the 100-acre site range in capacity from 2.5-14 tonnes and perform a wide spectrum of materials handling tasks. A total of 13 diesel-powered vehicles are used for despatching products, while other LPG and diesel units work in the plastics, resin and despatch areas.
