Northern Ireland-based timber importer and builders merchant JP Corry has invested about £250,000 in machinery at its Belfast production facility.

The company has added postforming machines and a wall saw from Ney Ltd, as well as a Masterwood CNC machining centre and Dustraction woodwaste extraction system to the multi-million pound, 17-acre site.

The technology is being used to cut rough sawn timber for customers, re-size doors to meet fire specification and to make toilet cubicles.

Leicester-based Dustraction supplied the woodwaste extraction plant via its Irish representatives Fisher Metal Agencies.

The system handles around 20 machines, all fully ducted to avoid any build-up of dust.

A Dustraction Dustrax no 27 RV woodwaste filter was specified, featuring a tubular sock-type filtering system complete with automatic shaker mechanism.

Waste is transferred into the end of the hopper section via a floor-mounted extraction fan set and is discharged through a heavy-duty rotary valve airseal specially designed to handle woodwaste.

JP Corry has 13 branches throughout Northern Ireland.
