John Kissock, joint managing director of James Jones & Sons Ltd, has been appointed an OBE in the new year honours list for services to forestry.

James Jones chairman Tom Bruce-Jones said: “All of us in James Jones are thrilled that the unstinting work which John has done over many years on behalf of the forestry and wood processing industries has been recognised in this way.”

Mr Kissock has performed a wide variety of roles in the industry including being a president of the former UK Softwood Sawmillers Association, which joined with the British Timber Merchants Association to form the UK Forest Products Association.

He has served as chairman of the board of management at the Centre for Timber Engineering, Napier University, and as a director of TRADA. He is currently a trustee of the Scottish Forestry Trust.

Mr Kissock said: “Obviously, I am very pleased and was surprised initially. I’m pleased from my family’s point of view but also for the people here at James Jones who have supported me over the years.”
