The installation of a £150,000 membrane press for foil wrapping and profiling has given storefitting group JDS a cost-saving ability to sub-contract to the DIY, kitchen and bathroom furniture component trade.
The company, based near Oxford, is using the Simmipianti press to bond MDF with decorative foil finishes, including woodgrain effects.
It says finishes can be applied in minutes to a wide range of pre-machined MDF parts and components, including unusual mouldings and individual pieces up to 8x4ft.
JDS believes the process offers big economies for manufacturers in the joinery, timber and DIY trades.
