Accoya modified softwood and laminated flooring were among the products highlighted by James Latham, with the aim of presenting visitors with the “unexpected” and targeting a new range of customers.

“We could have focused on the traditional range of hardwoods and softwoods we’re best known for,” said site director Andy Craig. “But we’re saying, ‘we do all that, but look at everything else we do’.”

Accoya proved a particularly strong draw. “We are finding it’s gathering momentum in the market generally, and the fact that [Accoya producer] Accsys had a stand here added to the interest,” said Mr Craig.

Lathams would like to have seen more specifiers at the show, but thought it “worked well overall”.

“The two-day and relatively compact format is good and I liked the mix of exhibition, talks and seminars,” said Mr Craig. “We’re already talking about signing up for next year.”
