Progressive Solutions International Ltd’s Timber Track sales order processing and stock control software has been implemented gradually across the group since the first installation at the I-joist division in Forres during 2003.
James Jones said sales staff taking orders by telephone can now automatically check current stock levels at each mill and see which site is best placed to deal with the order. The mill is then alerted to the order via Timber Track’s internal messaging feature.
The company said Timber Track was saving time, reducing paperwork and improving accuracy.
James Jones’ financial director Robin Stevenson said stock control had also been improved. “Stock control in our industry is so important because the production process moves relatively quickly,” he said.
