Coatings containing nothing but vegetable resins and oils for the eco-construction sector are the latest new offering from ICA.

The Italian coatings manufacturer used Ligna to launch its BIOCOAT water-based impregnating oil and BIOLACK water-based lacquered top coat.

ICA export manager Federico Bastianelli told press that the coatings for untreated interior and exterior wood are free from solvents, with boron salts replacing biocides. Target applications are roofs, floors and structural elements.

BIOCOAT is available in various shades, as well as white and transparent. BIOLACK colourless topcoat is designed to complement BIOCOAT and forms a thin anti-static film as a washable, breathable surface which does not attract dust.

ICA recorded a turnover of e109.7m in 2008, with overseas sales increasing by 9%.
