Small firms which battle with applying health and safety law effectively are to receive help in the form of a pilot grant scheme launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The HSE’s research shows small companies generally struggle with health and safety but are reluctant to ask for advice.
The grant scheme, to be run by the Small Business Service and Business Links, can give firms up to 50% funding for health and safety training and/or mentoring.
It will run to May 2003 in West Yorkshire, Essex and Devon and Cornwall.
