Howarth Timber Engineering was a first-time exhibitor at Ecobuild, a result of “the same eco-drivers” influencing the rest of the timber industry, said engineering manager Albert Gale.

Along with its range of trusses, I-joists, metal web joists and spandrel panels, Howarth also demonstrated its innovative double bottom chord (DBC) truss.

“Increasing the depth of insulation in roofs can make installation of services and subsequent access difficult for both the builder and the occupier,” said Mr Gale. Howarth’s solution is the DBC truss which provides a cost-effective solution “requiring no changes to the external roof profile or eaves details”.
