Homag (UK) supplied technology for a new plant operated by Dorset-based Total Laminate Systems.

TLS supplies work surfaces, table tops, washroom cubicles, wall panelling systems and square edged panels as well as cut and edged melamine boards.

Homag UK supplied a Holzma beam saw and two Homag single-sided edgebanders for the 17,000ft² unit. These are supplied and serviced by semi-automated units and roller tracking to the value of £62,000 from Q-System of Denmark, for which Homag UK is exclusive agent. The system comprises floor-recessed scissor lifts with powered roller tracking at the outfeed of the beam saw and similar units at the outfeed of the edgebanders.

Panels can also be stored for retrieval between edgebanders on a multi-level 8-unit system configured from two 4-level roller tracks cantilevered from a central beam.

A Joos press has been installed featuring a dynamic piston bearing reactive to pressure sensors in the platen which prevents the press closing in the event of incorrect loading.

All the systems are linked and fed by a Q-System powered transfer car running on embedded rails.
