The high capacity Holzma HPL 510 beam saw has been operational at Palmer’s Cradley Heath factory for a number of months and replaced an older Holzma model, which had also been used for the cut-to-size service. Palmer said volumes were up by 30% since the installation.

“This new Holzma saw is a major strategic investment for Palmer Timber and it is designed to significantly increase the value and quality of service to our customers,” said Mr Myatt.

The HPL 510 features double decker roller infeed tables, a mid-section turntable device, a laser positioning system for angle cuts and Speed Concept, “an optimised movement sequence of the saw carriage and program fence”.

This has combined to make the machine “very quick, much more efficient said Mr Myatt.

Palmer said efficiencies included allowing small batch production, short delivery times and greater mixing of batches and production schedules.
