At 20 tonnes, the Gau Jing GH-624 CE moulder was one of the biggest machines of its type at Ligna.

The Taiwanese-made four-sided planer/moulder, capable of a 200m/min feed speed, was being pitched as a cost-effective heavyweight solution.

The machine, with a 6,000rpm spindle speed and optional straight knife and profiled knife jointer devices, was being seen by several prospective UK customers at Ligna, with one sale of a smaller model reported on the Wednesday.

A 150m/min GH was installed just weeks before the show at Swantec Ltd in North Yorkshire.

Gua Jing’s UK?agent International Woodworking Machines said the machines would be “attractive propositions” for the UK housebuilding sector.
