A Boere wide-belt sander is enabling office furniture manufacturer Greenwood and Wood to precisely calibrate board surfaces prior to veneer pressing.
The Wakefield-based company chose the Boere 1650 HD-TCS to ensure it could achieve the finish required by customers.
The £50,000 machine was part of a £300,000 programme to bring all the company’s machinery onto one site.
Nigel Hopwood, the company’s project engineer, said the Boere was delivering ‘exemplary’ results and making a significant difference to production quality.
The Boere has two heads, a combi unit powered by a 40hp motor and a sanding pad unit with a 30hp motor, both fitted with 1660x2620mm belts. It has a working width of 1650mm and a 150mm working height capability, with a variable feed speed from 5-25m/min.
It is also being used to pre-sand veneered boards to an ultra-fine finish before lacquering.
