Rubner Group companies Nordlam and Glöckel flew the flag for glulam at Interbuild.

Nordlam, a manufacturer of stock glulam products for UK distributors, and Glöckel, which makes large curved elements for projects, said show enquiries were not large in number but construction firms and architects expressed interest in using timber.

“The reason why steel is disappearing is because wood is becoming more interesting and steel is more expensive,” said Chris Todd, Nordlam’s UK representative.

Nordlam sales manager Klaus Harz showed off a new offering – an interlocking glulam ceiling panel system, which will see its first UK application in a gym.

Glöckel is currently quoting for a number of projects worth £30,000-310,000, including a sports centre.
